Following the Decision of the Administrative Council of 15 December 2021 published in the Official Journal of January 2022, the EPO has announced an increase of some official fees as of 1 April 2022.

Increase of official fees at the European Patent Office from 1 April 2022

Following the Decision of the Administrative Council of 15 December 2021 published in the Official Journal of January 2022, the EPO has announced an increase of some official fees as of 1 April 2022.

Even though this increase is quite low it may be advisable to consider the payment of outstanding official fees (such as maintenance fees which may be paid up to 3 months in advance) or even the filing of new applications prior to that date to obtain some savings.

The new official fees are available at EPO – Decision of the Administrative Council of 15 December 2021 amending Article 2 of the Rules relating to Fees and adjusting the amount of the reduction in the fee for the supplementary European search where the international or supplementary international search report was drawn up by one of the European International Searching Authorities (CA/D 13/21)
