Manuel Aguilar
Manuel Aguilar earned his degree in Biochemistry, with a concentration in Molecular and Applied Biochemistry, from the University of Málaga in 2018. He received the Outstanding Graduate Award as the top student in his class. After completing his undergraduate thesis, “Glutaminase Inhibitors as a Therapeutic Strategy in Cancer,” he pursued a master’s degree in Biotechnology Business Management at CEU San Pablo University, where his master’s thesis, “Strategic Plan for Advanced Therapies,” also received an award.
During the final year of his studies, Manuel began working at an intellectual property law firm in Madrid. He initially joined the European Projects department and later moved to the Patent department, where he worked as a technical consultant specializing in biotechnology and biomedicine.
During this period, his work focused primarily on drafting and prosecuting national and international patent applications, as well as preparing patentability, freedom-to-operate, and infringement risk analyses, among other services. He advised universities, public research institutions, and private-sector organizations.
In January 2026, Manuel joined the BALDER team. He also passed the European Qualifying Examination (EQE), qualifying him to practice as a European Patent Attorney.
In addition to Spanish, Manuel is fluent in English, which he had the opportunity to further improve while living in Connecticut for several months.
In his free time, Manuel enjoys playing sports, especially basketball, soccer, and padel. He also loves spending time with friends and family, preferably outdoors enjoying the sunshine. On less sunny days, he enjoys reading or going to the movies.
