Ligia Escalante

Ligia was born in Mexico, where she successfully finalized her Law Studies and then initiated her professional career at an intellectual property firm, giving assessment and advice to local and international clients on their trademark protection.

Looking for a professional growth and challenge that would allow her to expand her knowledge, she traveled to Spain for a Master’s degree in Intellectual Property and New Technologies at the Autonomous University of Madrid (Master’s Degree in Intellectual Property, Industrial Property and New Technologies (LLM IP & IT)).

After completing her Master’s degree, she went on to work in one of Spain’s largest IP firms, focusing on patent prosecution in Latin America on behalf of European clients. Later, she returned to the trademark field, and therefore she joined the LATAM trademark department of BALDER where she is now applying her extensive knowledge of the Mexican legal system.
