Jens-Christian Jahnke
Jens is the Head of BALDER’s Trademarks and Designs practice for Latin America, overseeing a team of more than 25 experts and specialists across all 33 countries in the region.He sets the strategic direction for BALDER’s trademark business in Latin America, ensuring that every process meets the firm’s rigorous standards of excellence. With over 15 years of experience in Industrial Property, Jens has a deep understanding of the complexities of trademark and design law in this diverse and dynamic market.
He began his career at the age of 21 at one of Argentina’s most prestigious IP firms, where he quickly established himself as a rising star in the field. Seeking to broaden his international experience, Jens moved to Germany to work as In-house Trademark Counsel for a global organization, where he managed a significant IP portfolio and developed comprehensive strategies to combat trademark infringement and counterfeiting.
His passion for expanding his knowledge led him to pursue the Magister Lvcentinvs in Intellectual Property in Spain, where he specialized in patents and broadened his expertise in trademarks across Latin America. After joining one of Spain’s leading IP firms, Jens rapidly became known for his ability to deliver tailored solutions in complex trademark and patent matters.
In 2012, he joined BALDER with a vision of transforming the delivery of IP services in Latin America. At just 29, he became one of the youngest partners in the firm, where he currently leads the firm’s operations in Latin America. He ensures that BALDER’s high standards are upheld across the region, overseeing everything from filing strategies to high-profile cases. His team’s work has set the tone for trademark and design excellence across Latin America.
In addition to his leadership, Jens drives innovation at BALDER through his role as head of the internal BALDRON team, which focuses on automating legal workflows and implementing AI-driven solutions to enhance client services.
His contributions to the field have earned him recognition as one of the leading professionals in IP law across Latin America. Jens is consistently ranked in the top tiers for prosecution matters and has been an active member of INTA since 2008, where he serves on the Internet Committee: Evolving Technologies Subcommittee, focusing on generative AI and human rights.
Jens also shares his expertise with future generations of IP professionals as a lecturer in the Magister Lvcentinvs Master in Intellectual Property and Digital Innovation at the University of Alicante.
