We are pleased to inform you that the Oficina Española de Patentes y Marcas (Spanish Patent and Trademark Office) has announced the first edition of the Awards for the best invention protected by Patents and Utility Models.

On February 22, 2022, the BOE published in the Official State Gazette the extension of the deadline for submitting nominations for the Award for the best invention protected by industrial property rights. Therefore, nominations can be submitted until March 15.

We are pleased to inform you that the Oficina Española de Patentes y Marcas (Spanish Patent and Trademark Office) has announced the first edition of the Awards for the best invention protected by Patents and Utility Models. For those interested in participating, the registration and submission of applications must be made electronically through the SPTO website, before February 28, 2022.*

With the aim of supporting and promoting research, scientific and technological activity, as well as rewarding the innovative character of Spanish inventors as the driving force behind the technological development of our society, this first edition will have three categories of Patents and three of Utility Models granted during 2020:

• Best Patent
• Best Patent by a young inventor
• Best Patent by a woman inventor
• Best Utility Model
• Best Utility Model of a young inventor
• Best Utility Model of a woman inventor

On the OEPM website all the necessary additional documentation is available: Order of Regulatory Bases, Resolution of the Directorate of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A., announcing the first edition of the awards for the best invention protected by industrial property rights and extract of its publication in the BOE, participation form and instructions for the completion and submission of the form.
