At BALDER, we believe sustained growth is driven by talent, commitment, and the ability to combine deep expertise with international vision.
Today, we are proud to celebrate the promotion of six outstanding professionals whose careers, perspectives, and contributions reflect the multidisciplinary strength that defines our firm.

Eva Sánchez Galán, PhD joined BALDER’s Patents Department following a distinguished career spanning both the scientific field - particularly biotechnology and biomedicine—and industrial property. She holds a PhD in Biochemistry, is a European Patent Attorney, and has earned the CEIPI Diploma in Patent Litigation in Europe (University of Strasbourg), further strengthening her focus on the protection and enforcement of rights across the European landscape. Eva has extensive experience in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications before national and international patent offices, as well as in preparing patentability and infringement opinions. Her profile combines deep technical expertise with a practical understanding of the industrial environment, enabling her to advise a broad range of clients on the protection, strategic management, and value maximization of their innovations.

Ana López-Serrano Oliver, PhD, who holds a doctorate in Analytical Chemistry from Complutense University of Madrid, spent nearly a decade in research, during which she gained substantial international experience in both the United States and Germany, including leading her own research project. In 2018, Ana redirected her career toward industrial property, joining an IP law firm in Berlin where she began her work in the patent field. Since joining BALDER in 2020, she has developed strong technical expertise, specializing in patent drafting and prosecution, as well as patentability and infringement analyses within the chemical sector across Europe and Latin America.

Laura Durán Pachón, PhD is a member of BALDER’s Patents Department, bringing fifteen years of experience in Industrial Property. She holds a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Amsterdam and has developed her scientific career across both the Netherlands and Spain. Laura possesses substantial expertise in inorganic chemistry and catalysis, nanotechnology, advanced materials, and electrochemistry. Since joining BALDER in 2020, she has become a European Patent Attorney and has also obtained the CEIPI Diploma in European Patent Litigation. Throughout her career, Laura has combined profound scientific knowledge with extensive experience in patent advisory matters, including drafting and prosecuting applications before the EPO and other national and international offices, as well as conducting patentability and freedom-to-operate analyses. She is particularly recognized for her ability to translate scientific complexity into clear strategic solutions, guiding clients in the protection and commercialization of their innovations.

Bárbara Hernández joined BALDER’s Trademarks, Designs, and Domestic Litigation Department after completing her legal and intellectual property training. Her practice focuses on advising clients on the protection of intangible assets, participating in both administrative and judicial proceedings. Bárbara combines legal rigor with a distinctly client-centered approach in the management of complex matters.

Manuel Chavarriaga is part of BALDER’s Trademarks, Designs, and Litigation Department, with a particular focus on Latin America and, specifically, Colombia, where he advises international clients on the management and protection of their Industrial Property portfolios. With legal training in Colombia, Germany, and the United States, Manuel brings a highly valuable international perspective to cross-border matters. He has extensive experience in trademark prosecution throughout the Andean region and in coordinating international trademark strategies.

Juana Li leads BALDER’s business development efforts in the Chinese market, where she contributes to managing commercial relationships between Europe and Asia. She brings more than fifteen years of experience in international trade promotion within both Spanish and Chinese companies. Her understanding of the cultural and business environments, together with her international experience, enables her to effectively connect clients and markets within the field of Industrial Property.

To Eva, Ana, Laura, Bárbara, Manuel, and Juana - congratulations on this well-deserved milestone.
We are proud to have you on this journey and look forward to all that lies ahead.
