The European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) has announced the launch of the SME Fund 2026, a new edition of this grant program designed to facilitate access for small and medium-sized enterprises to intellectual property protection services. The call for applications will open on February 2.
Through this fund, SMEs established in the European Union and in Ukraine may receive financial support to cover part of the official fees associated with registering various intellectual property rights, as well as the cost of the IP Scan diagnostic service. The program offers different vouchers depending on the type of protection the company seeks.
The IP Scan voucher provides funding of up to €1,620. The trademark and design voucher covers up to €700. Support for national patents and prior art searches may reach €1,000, while the voucher for European patents and related legal costs offers up to €2,500. In addition, funding of up to €1,500 is available for the protection of Community plant varieties.
At BALDER, we encourage SMEs to take advantage of these grants, which represent a genuine opportunity to safeguard their intangible assets and strengthen their competitiveness in both the European and international markets.
